Hey guys, my CPU fan makes this horrid buzzing/whirring noise when I first start it up. This time I was monitoring everything, and saw that the rpm was sitting in the low 1000's. Eventually it went back to being quiet and I saw that it had increased its rpm to the 2000's range. Should I get a new fan? Or should I mess around with the power setting on the MoB? Or is this completely normal and nothing to worry about (though it is extremely annoying)?

Solution
I assume the fan did not always make this noise. I have a similar problem where there was the sound and then it went quiet. Months later my cpu stock fan is at 1200 rpm almost all the time, down from maybe 2000....

You probably need to look into finding a replacement because likely the fan will degrade to a point where it cannot compensate for your cpu's temperature. Moreover, simply upping the power may just make things worse.
