CPU fan is out of control, Need help!

Well, I have a dell inspiron 620. I have replaced the gpu and psu. No problems at all. Then I got an upgraded gaming case and I moved my computer into there, thats when my computer started having problems. The number one problem is that my CPU fan is completely out of control. The second it starts up it spins at almost 5,000 RPM...which I know isnt good. And it just stays like that, Ive searched everywhere. No solutions, the only thing I got close to solving it is updating my bios but I really dont want to do that. And when I go into the bios there is no option for fan speed since its a dell. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Dell computers are nice to buy and use but when it comes to upgrading or customizing they are the worst because Dell puts so many restrictions on the OS, hard drive and bios that you can't do anything except call their tech support.

It is the way Dell and a like work, because in there eyes if you limit the expansion or upgrade options of the board by doing what is said above, it`s a way of getting you to buy a whole new or faster system from them.

Because almost all of the boards are custom made for there model lines.
At a far cheaper cost, due to less features incorporated.
It is the way they work.

So would I be able to save my cpu and just replace my motherboard? That way I have all this dell crap out of my computer? Do you think that would work or no?

It seems like your fan is getting a constant 12v causing it to spin at high speed when before it was getting less power or self monitoring through the boards CPU fan connector. Here is a funny thread that describes this issue.

A simple solution is to control the fan via software like SpeedFan.

It's not very user friendly but with it you're able to manually control the speed of the PWM CPU fan.
