CPU fan placement

I just bought a Rosewill RCX-Z775-SL CPU cooling fan as I have a Pentium 4 660 3.6 lying around without a cooler. A normal intel cooler blows the air straight up from the mobo while this cooler blows the air at a 90 degree angle. Which way should I position the fan to blow the exhaust? Down towards the floor of the case, straight back towards the rear exhaust fan or towards the top of the case. Common sense tells me to blow it straight back into the case exhaust fan but will this cause too much or conflicting air pressure or will the negative air flow of the case rear exhaust fan expel most of the cpu exhaust being blown into it. Thanks

You want to install it blowing straight back towards the rear exhaust fan. The way airflow should generally go in your case for best results is in the front bottom of the case, and back/up towards the back top corner of the case, and having the CPU cooler in that orientation assists in this pattern. Also- if you have it blowing up towards the top (some cases have exhaust fans there as well) it is ok, but the issue is that it will then be pulling warm air straight off of your GPU, which is not going to cool your CPU as well as pulling cooler air from the front of your case.

Straight back toward the exhaust fan on the rear panel of the case. The is the classic configuration.

You want to install it blowing straight back towards the rear exhaust fan. Thats exactly what I thought. I have lower intake in front and upper rea exhaust. No fan top of case so straight back to rear exhaust case fan it shall go. Thank.
