Cpu fan profile in bios?

If i set my cpu fan profile to silent in bios does it mean that my fan speed will not rise with an increase in temperature?

which motherboard and cpu do you have?

Normally in silent mode, the fan profile than let the CPU get a bit hotter due to lower fan speed, but will provide enough airflow, that the CPU won´t overheat and shutdown.

Smart Fan Mode
...If you choose Silent mode, the fan speed will be auto restricted to make system more quietly.

this means, the fan speed will be limited to a not mentioned rpm and could mean, the CPU comes very close to its maximum Temp.
Of course you wanna overclock the CPU, so the silent mode shouldn´t be used.
