CPU fan reinstalling

I already own a amd CPU but I'm upgrading to another amd CPU can I use the old fan if I apply thermal paste ?

Yes, but please tell me that's not the stock heatsink. What might have barely worked for, say, an FX-6300 would be terrible for an 8350.

Just grab a coolermaster Hyper212 or something cheap. Will be much better and quieter than the stock cooler.
