Hello,
I'm having a problem with my CPU fan. It revs up and down every 5 seconds or so. I have not made any recent changes to the computer and it is working fine otherwise. It does not happen right from startup but waits until I do something moderately demanding - watching a video, playing a game, etc. and then revs constantly all day until I shut off the PC.
My setup:
-XPS 8100
-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (the only modification I've made)
-All BIOS and drivers up to date
-Windows 7
-Very clean - purged of dust regularly.
Stats (according to CPUID HWMonitor)
-CoreTemps:
Min: 33*C
Current: 33*C (fan revving)
Max: 52*C
Fan Speed (revving rapidly between these two)
Min 258 RPM
Max 3409 RPM
Here's a video of someone else with the same computer having the same problem (though he doesn't have the same fan...)
http://
So is my fan just wearing out or is there something else going on? I'd just swap out the cooling unit, but (I've read) it's a pain to do on these Dells because of the pins...
Thanks!
