The fan curve doesn't want to stick in BIOS, so the CPU fan runs at full, or almost full speed all the time, making noise. I have tried to set the fan curve to Default, and it changes in BIOS, but it doesn't seem to affect the fan speed.

Motherboard: MSI B450-A PRO MAX
CPU: 3400G
Cooler: AMD Wraith Prism (a leftover from another build)

The BIOS is the one that came with the motherboard. E7B86AMS.M30

Any tips?

No, Ryzen Master is not installed.

The paste is the one that came on the cooler. (Thought about replacing it with Cryonaut, but as you say, this cooler should be more than good enough!)

I'm going to install the HWInfo64 and check the vcore and temps later when I get home.

Faulty heat sensors or maybe the thermal paste has air bubbles, meaning it'd affect your temps negatively.
Might be a bios problem, i suggest updating your bios to the latest version

Many possible solutions to this problem ex. faulty mb, cooler, bios, thermalpaste
