I own a old Foxconn G31MX MoBo and a stock CPU cooler with 4 pins ( and the MoBo got 4 pins too ). The problem is that i cannot control the Fan Speed in none of the ways i tried. I tried to change the fan speed from BIOS and by some Softwares made for changing it but none of them worked so far. I also want to mention that i'm not so sure if the cooler got 4 pins ( i checked the cable that connects from the cooler to the MoBo and it's a 4-wire cable ( guess it's ending with 4 pins.. ) and the MoBo says in the specs that got 4 pins : http://www.foxconnchannel.com/ProductDetail.aspx?T=motherboard&U=en-us0000452
"4-pin ATX 12V power connector "
If you have any idea what to do please show it to me.

providing nothing has broken it should have 4 pins on the end of the wire, although I'm curious as to why you are trying to control the CPU fan yourself?

If you're OCing then I'd suggest getting an after market cooler, hyper 212 is a great on, or if thats a little too big for you're case, it has a 120mm fan, then the hyper TX3 is almost as good and a fair bit smaller, thats the one I use

Well the idea was how to adjust my fan speed, not to buy a new fan cuz this one ( i noticed that when i was doing some heavy load with my CPU ) went to almost 6000 RPM and that's the thing i'm looking for - setting it to the highest value.

As i said, do you have any idea how to ?

in that case, I think there is software out there, speedfan comes to mind, not sure how well they work as I tend to just leave mine to it and the mobo adjusts the speed as it needs to, sorry I can't help more 🙁
