CPU for around £100 no overclocking

Doing some shopping for a friend and looking for the most powerful CPU for around £100. He is not looking to overclock and therefore will be using the stock cooler. Is it worth getting an unlocked AMD F8320 or something like that or a powerful i3 core? Quad core preferred.

Dual core? Yes, maybe but it comes with hyper threading. Meaning it has 4 threads like quad core also does.

It's more than good enough for gaming.
