CPU For Content Creation

I'm trying to build a budget computer (<$1300) for basically everything but gaming. Rendering, CUDA, etc. I've put 2 part lists together. They're basically identical, except that the processor is an 8700k in one and a Ryzen 7 2700X. AMD's product page makes the 2700X very appealing, outperforming the 8700k in everything but gaming.


So for video editing, photo editing, file encoding and upgrade-ability, what's best?
