Quick question. After upgrading to the Gigabyte R9 280 3GB OC, it's finally time for the next step on the upgrade of my pc. I'm about to buy new CPU, Mobo and new RAM. I'm between Amd FX-8320 and Intel i5-4590. I've been told by a friend that the Amd's CPUs get high tempratures when stressed, but that is mainly problem of 9xxx series. Any suggestions? My main issue is that my budget is hardly above 320€, I plan on upgrading of course the CPU cooler too.

overclocking is the only difference. since the i5 CPU you listed does not over clock either, I think you are safe with the H97. Overclocking is only valuable if you have an interest in that sort of thing. I personally do not bother with it. H97 boards can have all of the same features as a Z97 otherwise. They are also typically cheaper.
The Intel i5 is a solid choice. Generally they perform better then AMD chips because they are better suited at running single threaded applications. most games are single or light threaded. The i5 outperforms just about everything when it comes to games. It also gets much better temps then the AMD FX series. I love AMD but their chips do get awfully hot.
If you go with an i5, get an H97 motherboard. it will give you room to upgrade to a later generation chip down the road.
