CPU for laptop

Hello,

I have a Dell Latitude e6410 and have now i5 540m 2.53 ghz as CPU.
I am looking to get a i7 620m, do i get significant performance by for example photoshop/video editing or don't i feel a difference?

You can't upgrade a cpu in a laptop.

You can upgrade only ram or HDD in only lappy.you can only upgrade on desktop!!! Only desktop upgradable..

You will feel the difference in speed if the software is optimised for quad core cpu's. But you can't upgrade the cpu in this laptop. There are only a few high end laptops that will allow you to do this.

Sorry to bring back this old post, but i googled to replace the i5 540m to a better i7 processor, and some people were saying you could upgrade to a a better CPU if you have the Nvidia Quadro 3100. So i'm planning to get the i7 720qm will this work or will it not work?

While the chips themselves maybe soldered, a few laptops are built using modules and the module where the CPU is maybe swap-able. You folks should visit a Dell or HP or whatever specific site for answers as TomsH is more for generic, no platform-specific hardware.
