CPU for LGA 775

I would like to know what the best cpu would be for the socket 775 in a dell xps 400.

The XPS 400 doesn't support any CPUs beyond the Pentium D so whatever the top of the line Pentium D is.

Oh ok thank you but i'm looking for a cheaper one. Maybe less than $100. Any help is greatly appreciated!

That's defiantly a good CPU, but is power hungry. I suggest going for it's non extreme edition brother, the Q6600 or Q9550. Later revisions of the non extreme edition CPUs actually overclock far better than the extreme edition CPUs.
