CPU fx vs Athlon

I'm going to be building a gaming PC later this summer and I was set to get a fx 8350/8370 but I was thinking the prices with zen comming out next year I started to think that maybe I shouldn't spend $170 for a fx and get a $70 Athlon 860k and get zen next year. Your thoughts? What's the better path ? The gpu I'll be getting is the strix gtx 970.

get a fx6300 for 99$ the athlons are way out of date the 6300 has 6 cores and will still keep up alittle i 5 standerd.. then get the new CPUs

For a gtx970, a FX8 core would be a better match than the fx6300 or X4 860k.

true but if he wants to upgade to the new cpus later its porlly better to spend less now and bet by then 150-170 on an 8 core when he is going to upgrade anyway,.?or no?

What??? The Athlon x4 860k is newer than the FX6300. I would not buy any FX. The 860k is GREAT for super budget builds but I would not pair it with a 970. AMD Zen could be good. We know the i5s are great.

Buy an 8320 now, and upgrade later, or just go intel and get good performance for a few years.

I figure if I went zen it might be a better idea to spend less? I was set to get a 8350 but I started to get cold feet when I saw that zen might come out sooner as well.

A locked i5 + B85 or H97 motherboard is still cheaper and better.
