Hi ladies and gents,

I built my PC 5 years ago and figured it would be time for an upgrade... seems to run most games on medium to low settings (bar Arma 3) pretty well (30-60FPS) on a 1080P 60HZ monitor which I'm happy with.

I figured my CPU is getting a bit long in the tooth (as is my GPU!!!), however I looked at the CPU benchmark chart and it's still up there for price v performance.

So should I keep the CPU and M/B and just upgrade the GFX card - was going to go for a GTX 1070 OC (I can pick one up off friend for £250 otherwise I'd go for GTX 1060).

My current build:-
CPU: i7 3770
M/B: ASUS P8Z77-V LX Motherboard
GFX: GTX560 Ti 1GB
RAM: 16GB

I want to aim for 60FPS in most games (and at least stable 30FPS in Arma 3) on a 1080P 60HZ monitor for as little £ - if I was to say budget of around £500

Thoughts?

Arma 3 runs like crap on any hardware. It's not well-threaded and you might see some improvements moving to a higher-clocked newer generation CPU, but as you've noticed you still have a decent chip overall. In my opinion, either a GTX 1060 or 1070 would be a nice upgrade.

Thanks dude. That was my thought too.
