My AMD FX-8320 tells me that it's 6c at idol and 30c under load. This is clearly wrong, and I think it is causing problems for my system. I have the Coolermaster Hyper 212+ as the CPU cooler and it seems to be working fine to cool it at 1000-1500 rpm. So idk guys any ideas, I have got temps from a variety of different applications, tweaked with bios settings etc. and it it is still giving me wrong temps.

Solution
The CPU is OK. Every AMD processor I have had since they went to the Piledriver architecture has had messed up temp sensors. What are you reading with? I had best results with HWMonitor on mine. But you have to go by CPU temp, the cores' temp is still screwy.

I have tried all temp monitoring software I can find. My bios gives an accurate temp though, It's just that I am experiencing a PC shut down under heavy loads, and I have tracked it down to the only thing wrong with my computer is this, so I though that maybe my CPU is overheating and I just don't know it (I doubt it). Is there a way to get a CPU temp monitor that gives the same data as BIOS?

Oh, shut downs? The CPU will shut down when it reaches its TjMax temp, but your temps readings don't indicate that. If you can believe them. The BIOS temp will always be higher than normal Windows temp because the processor is always running at full speed, unlike in Windows. I wonder if the cooler is attached properly and if the thermal paste is applied properly? Did you have the cooler on and off a few times where it could have microscopic air pockets formed in the thermal paste? Is the cooler on securely where you can't twists it w/o extreme force.

You might want to try the stock cooler temporarily to see if it is indeed the 212's mounting that is an issue.

My cpu fan can twist around a little bit, though I was told this was normal. I will try installing the stock cooler, check temps, then reinstall the Coolermaster and this time more securely. Also I installed it once with zalman brush on thermal grease so there shouldn't be air pockets or particles. I will get back to you In a little bit.

Well after trying the stock cooler and the Coolmaster, the problem still continues. Although like I said before, the BIOS temperature continues to be accurate. Maybe the CPU is irrelevant to the PC shut down? Any other thoughts?
