CPU goes 100% after playing.

Hello,

I've noticed that my CPU goes 100% after playing games on steam such as CSGO or mad max. I kinda knew that there is something wrong when I played mad max and my fps was like 10.

I checked the Windows Task Manager and found out this

As you can see Yousef-PC.exe (My pc name) is using all of the CPU, while Mad Max isn't!

And here after I left the game, and the CPU is still stuck.

Im quiet sure that its not related to my PC specs because they should run the game easily.

Some info about it:-
Intel® Core™ i7 5930K
16 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980
Windows 7 professional.



Please, help me .

Could be a virus. Have you tried running an antivirus program scan?

My problem is still not solved.


Anyways, I do have an antivirus program (McAfee).

You should be able to "Unselect Current Solution" Also, have you tried ending that process in task manager. Try that and tell me what happens.

Well, after I've ended the process the CPU went back to normal!!! I've tried to open a game to see if it will go back to 100% but it didn't.


I wonder what is this process and how easily it could go away!

1 more thing, I've restarted my PC earlier and took a look at the CPU without opening any game and it was on the 100% also, which makes no sense.

That does NOT sound good. You probably have a rootkit. You can google what these are, but they are essentially viruses in the boot files, which launch on startup. Look up a specific rootkit removal tool, as McAfee probably does not have one. Be aware, however, that removing a rootkit may cause issues in the master boot record and other data corruption. You may have to wipe your hard drive and reinstall windows after removing it. So before removing the rootkit(assuming that is what it is), I would backup any and all important files you have. It sounds like a rootkit since it is starting on bootup AND is listed in the PROCESSES tab, not the SERVICES tab. Tell me how trying what I suggested goes, I hope it helps!

Look like you are right! I've downloaded Malwarebytes Anti-Rootkit and scanned my PC.

AHA! Well, it looks like it was a rootkit that a malicious person created to mine Bitcoin from other peoples' computers(if you didn't know, Bitcoin is a virtual currency you can "mine" by dedicating your CPU or GPU to perform calculations).

UPDATE: After cleaning up the rootkits and restarting the PC, the CPU is normal right now. The process which uses 100% is not showing anymore.

Real question is, where did it come from so you dont get it again.

I actually have no idea where did it came from, I'm not that type of guy who downloads anything from the internet.

I myself wonder where did it come from and when did it affect my computer haha.
