Question CPU goes to 100% ONLY WITH TWITTER-MacBook Air

I've used Twitter for years without any problems and last week my MacBook wouldn't load the site. I just get blue pinwheels circling on all areas of the twitter page and eventually parts of the page may load. It is the ONLY site that will not load and when I open activity monitor twitter is using 100% of my CPU. I don't have any heavy programs on this laptop. It's just a computer I use to browse the internet. I don't have Word, Power Point, Outlook, Excel or photos on the laptop. Why is it doing this with just this website? Why did this suddenly start doing this last week? Is it something I can fix? I've restarted the computer and force quit everything. When enough of the twitter site loads I've logged out of it but when I go back in the website still won't load and the CPU goes flying. HELP.

Ok I tried my malware and my laptop came out clean. I downloaded Firefox and Twitter pops right up with Firefox. Why did it suddenly stop working with Safari? Twitter works perfectly fine using Safari on my other MacBook laptop.
