Hello. I have an ASUS K53C-SX370V that is going to be 4 years old later this year. When I first installed it I could play a game like Skyrim om Medium settings at a very pleasant FPS rate, but nowadays when I start the game at Low/Med settings, the framerate will stay at 20/25 fps for a few minutes then begins to decrease to an unplayable 9 fps! This happens with most games so I thought it could be due to overheating so I diassembled the laptop entirely, cleaned the dust from the fan, re-applied thermal paste and put everything back together. However I tried playing the game and the same thing still happens, I stopped playing it 2 hours ago and the CPU temperature is still at 85ºC (GPU at 80) and I'm only runing Firefox and Vuze. Any solutions for this?

The specs are:
Intel i5-2430M
nVidia GT520MX (all drivers updated)
intel HD3000
8GB Ram

Many times since I've had this laptop. Last time was about 6 months ago...
Out of curiosity... how would this help?

Windows slow down over time, certainly not a big factor when it comes to poor performing computers. Have you got rid of start up programs?

Start "Run" and type msconfig, open start up tab and disable everything from this list and reboot. Did you install anything recently that caused this? There could be so many things slowing your computer down which makes it really hard to pinpoint.

And by the way, 80 C is not overheating on a laptop, they can run up towards ~100 before force shutdown to protect hardware.

I tried that, but it still takes a framerate hit (I assume it's because the temps were at 95ªC). I don't think I have installed anything that would cause this :\
