CPU & GPU problem

I want to build my dad a PC for Christmas since he always plays Minecraft and Counter-Strike. However, I have a small problem. I want a good cpu, but I will get a low-price gpu with it. Will having a high-end cpu with a low-end gpu ruin gamepleay.
I will get an i5 4690k with a r7 260x.

might team up FX 6300 and R9 270X and it will work fine but when you decide to upgrade the rig you should get a new rig
