Hello again, I'm looking to upgrade this machine on a $200 budget. Specifically replacing the cpu which is currently an Athlon II X2 250u and It's integrated 6150se graphics. My machine is on a MCP61PM-GM rev 2.4 motherboard and for what little specifications I can find on the net I know it can run at least 65watt cpu.

My other specs include: 4gb of ddr2 memory and a 300psu and a usb 3.0 pcie card controller.

As for parts I'm looking at a Athlon II X2 270 but I'm more inclined to find a 4 core solution for reasons mentioned below but as of this day I cannot find one in stock.

And for the GPU, its a gt620

I currently use this machine for (very) light office/gaming/video editing work however, I use mostly use it to play AND encode high def h264 video. I know this processor isn't meant for this kind of workload but, It's what I had and I would have been satisfied with it if I wasn't for the advent 10bit h264 and that is what is currently overburdening my cpu for the past year and the reason why I want a four core cpu.

With all those aside, the question is are these parts compatible with my machine?

i found the specs for your motherboard, (well the rev 2.2) and it says it supports cpus of 89w or less. no mention of quadcores.

and i found this cpu. it shoyuld be really good for what you want.

[edit] the parts you listed should be compatible, there is little info on the rev2.4 board. some say its am3 socket, others say its am2+ but usually its ddr2 which means its am2+.

personally i would get this board. it will allow you to keep your old stuff and let you upgrade to new stuff. its compatible with old am2 cpus and will allow upgrade to am3+. and the front panel matches your motherboard.
