Hello, everyone. I am looking for advice on upgrading my CPU and GPU.

Approximate Purchase Date: Within the next 2 weeks

Budget Range: $400 - 500, After Shipping/Rebates

System Usage: Gaming, more than anything else

Are you buying a monitor: No

Parts to Upgrade: CPU and GPU

Do you need to buy OS: No

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon or anywhere that offers free shipping to APO (will obviously buy elsewhere if there are no other options)

Location: South Korea (US Military / APO AP)

Parts Preferences: AMD for CPU; No preference for GPU

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: Games I most frequently play:
  • PUBG (95% of the time; all others account for the remaining 5%)
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Dying Light
  • FFXIV
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading:
It started with wanting only a new CPU, which is bottlenecking my FPS in PUBG (Link to original thread here: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pubg-fps-w-rx-580.3794522/)

However, now I am wondering if I might as well get a GPU too. I have never played any games that are too demanding, and I doubt that will ever change. Still, based on the thread I linked above, I am not okay with FPS that is barely above 60 at 1080p; certainly not okay with the occasional dips below that. For CPU, I am fairly confident that I want the Ryzen 7 5700X; but I am open to other suggestions. For the GPU, I have been seduced by the Intel Arc A750 (especially as the drivers improve and the price has dropped to $250). I also realize that the majority opinion seems to be to play it safe with something tried and tested, such as an RX 6600.

Thank you in advance to everyone who provides input.

Solution
To get both, you might need to double your budget.

But the best GPU you could get, based on the PSU you have, is RTX 3060 Ti,

RX 580 vs RTX 3060 Ti comparison: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-RX-580-vs-Nvidia-RTX-3060-Ti/3923vs4090

ARC 750 is quite a bit weaker compared to RTX 3060 Ti,
comparison: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Arc-A750-vs-Nvidia-RTX-3060-Ti/m1947734vs4090

R7 5700X would give you nice boost,
comparison: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-2600-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-5700X/3955vsm1823386

So, if you want both, R7 5700X and ARC 750 should fit in your budget and are good upgrades.

Thanks for the responses. I also found that I'm struggling to find a good CPU cooler that fits in my current case. Any suggestions on that front? Otherwise, I'll probably grab a Corsair 4000D Airflow.

I also found that I'm struggling to find a good CPU cooler that fits in my current case.

You have your parts in pcpp, if you edit your list and select "Choose a CPU cooler", pcpp displays all compatible CPU coolers for your build (less than 120mm tall with AM4 bracket).

With this, i suggest Noctua NH-D9L, at 110mm tall with twin towers
specs: https://noctua.at/en/nh-d9l/specification
pcpp: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8pgPxr/noctua-nh-d9l-4644-cfm-cpu-cooler-nh-d9l

This CPU cooler is enough for your R5 2600,
Noctua compatibility (NSRP 88): https://ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/AMD-Ryzen-5-2600-1009

And is almost enough for R7 5700X as well,
Noctua compatibility: https://ncc.noctua.at/cpus/model/AMD-Ryzen-7-5700X-1603

Another option is AIO. E.g Corsair H100i (and it's variants) or H105.
