Looking to upgrade my CPU and GPU.

Current rig:
i5-4460
ASUS H81m-PLUS mobo (slightly faulty)
12gb RAM
RX480 Gigabyte G1 Gaming edition (crashes all the time due to some random fault. see my other thread)

Newegg has a deal on the Ryzen 7 1700x for $265 AUD incl postage.

I really need to upgrade my PC very soon. This includes the GPU as well.
Should I look at getting an RX580, then waiting for the new 3rd gen Ryzen to come out, or just get the 1700x?

The RX 580 is basically a overclocked RX480 the differences are small maybe around 5%

I have seen Vega 56 and 64 going for 250 usd and 400 usd respectively so I would get either of them or the new Navi if you really want to get AMD
and wait for the new Ryzen 3000 series the first gen ryzen 1700 is not worth getting now
If you get an AMD cpu you will need to get high speed 3ghz+ ddr4 ram as well
intel cpus are usually less picky when it comes to ram often 2666 ghz ddr4 are more than enough

If you go AMD you need all new stuff.
