I just bought this cpu/mobo/ram combo off ebay and there are some marks in the cpu heat spreader plate.

My question is would this cause me heat issues and if so is there any way to fix this? They are little divots like it got hit twice by something sharp.

Solution
If it's not really badly dented or deeply gouged then that shouldn't be a problem. The thermal paste you put on the spreader fills in those gaps when you seat the cooler.

Sorry it seems that this didn't post my pic like it should have here is the link so you can see what it looks like.

Saw the picture. That's all fine. The thermal paste will fill in those areas.

Hard to tell without seeing it better but I'd have to agree with jghaverty. The scuffs on the top surface of the ihs (metal heat spreader of the cpu) don't concern me as much as the damaged spots around the flange. There's no reason for that area to show any signs of wear since coolers don't affect that area. Good possibility it's pry marks from someone delidding which makes it a bit more of a gamble. Delidding can be risky especially since it exposes the unprotected cores and they can be easily crushed by a cooler if not carefully mounted. Hopefully all is ok.

Those damaged spots are leftover thermal paste that the previous owner failed to clean up. Also you can't delid a 4820k. It uses solder not thermal compound.

Finally got it set up, just got my case yesterday. The case is the Define R5 I have the stock 140 mm fan in the back set to 100% and in the front as intake is a Swiftech h220-X both fans at 100%. No other case fans. Slight overclock to just 4.0ghz. Ran it for a little while after this and temps stayed more or less the same.

Looks like you were right and I shouldn't have worried so much about it.
