Question Cpu heating up

Using a lian li cooler for my ryzen 7 5800x and the temp has been spiking up to 90+ leading to the PC shutting off. Could there be anything other than a broken AIO?

The "obvious" issues:

• Are the necessary cables really plugged in?
• Did you remember to take the plastic off where AIO makes contact with the CPU?
• Is the AIO secured tightly enough against the CPU?
• If the AIO has a pump header, did you plug it in and is set to 100%? (there's almost no reason to go below this)
