Well I currently have a sempron le-1200 codename : sparta
it's a 65nm processor uses 45watt's of power the motherboard is a mcp61sm2ma
emachines motherboard
My question is if a brisbane 5600+

could be mounted on this motherboard with no problems
and i was wondering if the stock heatsink would work ok with new thermal paste (this thing literally isn't even warm when i touch it) so it makes me think it can handle it but i'm not sure.
This guy has 2gb ram, and a 8600GTS

Yes. It is an AM2 socket. Therefore AM2, AM2+ and AM3 processors will work on it. But why would you get that old thing when you could get this (it's more powerful because the work it does per cycle is more: newer architecture) for only $9 more?

This one I mentioned above even comes with a stock HSF so you don't need to worry about the heatsink or fan because it will come with it. It also has twice the L2 cache.

yeah lol i have an emachines board...it's really odd though.. the site tells me max 2gb ram, and i can go upto 4gb 3.94gb on vista x86 so i don't really know what's going on with this motherboard. lol. but yeah i knew about the bios upgrade to support am3 but unfortunately i decided to save the money i was going to use to buy a new mobo, so i can buy a nicer one.
