Hello all,

We are trying to build an x-plane driven computer for our flight school and have the following build:
Intel i7 2600k Sandy Bridge 3.8GHz LGA1155 Quad-Core CPU
Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD4 LGA-1155 Intel Z68 Intel Motherboard
Western-Digital 1002FAEX 1TB SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive w/64MB Cache
G. SKILL RIPJAWS X PC-3 10600 DDR3 PC3-1333 @16 GB (2 X 8GB)
ASUS 24X DVD/RW DRW-24B1ST SATA DVD "Burner" Drive-Black
PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 Watt ATX Power Supply Unit
Cooler-Master Elite HAF-912-KKN1Mid-Tower ATX Steel Case-Black
Windows 7 Home Premium Operating System, (64Bit)
GXT 760 GPU
Integrated RealTek AL 8111C Audio

We just purchased a Geforce Titan to replace the Geforce GTX760, tried it out and not much better performance then the GTX760 it replaced. A moderator on x-plane said I may be CPU bound? Please expailn....

Question: What would the next recommended step up CPU be for optimizing our frame rates?

Thanks,

scott

Solution
The GTX Titan is DEFINITELY being bottle-necked. An i7-4770K would be the next step up. If your application uses plenty of calculations then AMD (FX-8350) would be better, but Intel-wise 4770K!!

To All,

Thank you for your replies. I have read a lot about overclocking. daswilhelm are you saying I should overclock my i7 2660? How do you do such a thing without wrecking something else?
