I'm in the process of upgrading my PC for newer games. I asked around other forums and they recommended I moved from a Ryzen 5 1600 to a 3600, but I had to update the BIOS on my motherboard to do so. I have an MSI B350 Tomahawk and I have done this without issue, now it has the latest version, 7A34v1M released on 2019-01-30. But now I'm looking to possibly going for a Ryzen 7 3700 instead, can my motherboard support it without issue? I'm also moving from a gtx 1060 gpu to a 1660, if that changes anything. I'm new to PC gaming, this is my first built PC, and I don't want to do something that might break it.

the 3 series AMD chips look to be supported from 7A34v1O and above. did you mean the 3700X? I do not see a 3700 on the list of supported chips.

installing an unsupported chip will not break anything. if it fits it fits but it may not work, that will be the extent of the damage from trying, none. bent pins from forcing the issue not-withstanding.
