Cpu high temperature with non stock heatsink?

Have a fx 6300, not oc'd, runs at about 50 degrees with no games or anything, shoots to 70 in games, heatsink is a cooling alpine 64 pro, its huge compared to stock and have high end thermal paste.
playing tf2 currently and i get 70 quite fast, any way to turn up the cpu cooler fan speed?

The mobo is an asus m5a97 r2.0 if it helps.

Enter the bios and set the Q-fan option to disable for the cpu fan. This will make it run full speed all the time.

You may also be able to use a preset like Performance(or even custom) to have the fan ramp up sooner.
