[SOLVED] CPU holding back my PC, unsure which CPU to buy

Hey all,

I'm strictly a PC gamer, but when it comes to PC hardware I'm a complete newbie, especially when it comes to a CPU. I'm just at a loss as what kind of CPU I need and how to install it. While I have upgraded my gaming PC over the years I've just avoided upgrading the CPU out of pure ignorance. It's time to sort it out. But I'm totally unsure what CPU I should get. Any advice would be grateful. Again, I'm only looking to game on the PC, with Cyberpunk 2077 being in my headlights for 2020.

As an additional question, someone online told me that I should buy a new CPU socket. Should I?

The only step up in performance will be the i7-3770K, which won't be that dramatic of an upgrade.

The best idea would be to save up so you can upgrade the motherboard, RAM, and CPU to a more modern system.

It looks like your MB doesn't support any CPUs that will give you a significant increase in performance.
So if I was you I'd look into a Ryzen 2000 series build.
