I want to purchase a CPU, and I found a i5 8600k which is 3.6 ghz, and i7 8700 which is 3.2 ghz. Now my question is which is better,in terms of speed and for future gaming etc, both are 6 cores.

Solution
They will both perform very similar in gaming. The i7 is a 6 core/12 thread chip and the i5 is a 6 core/6 thread chip. PC games dont use many threads therefore the extra threads dont matter too much. The 8600k will overclock and can get higher clocks, so it will have an edge, but not by much. To overclock you will need a decent cooler and a z motherboard.

If you want to overclock, get the 8600k, if you are not going to overclock, then go with the 8700. They are both great CPUs for gaming and you can really go wrong.
