[SOLVED] CPU (i7 8700) Performing way below expectations (6th percentile)

Solution
I only have a stock cooler on the i7 8700. I had read that this particular stock cooler was bad at load, but found differing opinions online about whether it would really have an impact. I am happy to invest in a better cooler if this will help.
Yeah, the stock cooler was inadequate for the 8700. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i7-8700-cpu-review,5638.html
Getting a better cooler would allow for higher boost speeds which would increase performance. Here's a good option that won't break the bank.

I just ran a UserBenchmark Test of my PC to check components after installing a new GPU.

I found that my CPU is "Performing way below expectations (6th percentile)".

Appreciate any advice on how I can fix this. Is my CPU faulty?

Many thanks in advance!!!

It looks like your boost frequency is not getting up to what it should. The userbenchmark shows a turbo of only 3.55Ghz That is why @rgd1101 asked about power supply, CPU cooling and motherboard (VRM) cooling. Those are the kinds of things that could hurt boost clocks.

Thanks both. Here is more information:

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z370-A
PSU: Corsair TX650M

CPU temperatures -

Idle: around 32 celsius
Intel CPULoad Test: 75-80 celsius, peaked at 82

What cpu cooler are you using? Also the 8700s that scored the highest had been locked at their all thread turbo speed, which given your current temps likely isn't a good option for you.

I would not mind spending more tbh! Can you suggest any RBG cpu cooler that is decent and works with Asus Aura?

If not RBG, what about the H7?
