I have an old SOCKET A chip I've been calling a Thunderbird for as long as I've had my old computer system. I can remember far back as to purchasing it and the listing said THUNDERBIRD? well anyhow I just so happen to look at this chip and it doesn't match any of the Thunderbird chipsets ...

It reads ....
AHL1000AUT3B

The board it was in was a ABIT KT7 VIA 686

I'll post a pic in a second

This came from the first link that Google came up with. Remember , Google is your friend and should be checked before asking questions on the forums.

With that out of the way, no it is not a Thunderbird it is a Palamino core. I hope you didn't pay Athlon price for a Duron :O

Interesting thanks ....
Yea I checked google, but didn't find anything when i typed in ahl1000aut3b ...

Duron eh? damn ...
well anyhow I was trying to sell it for something, don't know what it's worth now maybe the price of a cheeseburger now 🙁 ..

Its not a Duron. Its a Palomino core Athlon. Came after the Thunderbird, and before the Throughbred core. Its actually better then what you thought it was. Duron model names are Spitfire, Morgan, and Applebred. (from oldest to newest.)

Interesting again .. when I just did a search now on google they kept showing me Duron chips, but none matched mine.... It's a Athlon ... I cleaned some more of the heat paste from it ...

My chip

I should fire it back up for old times sake ..

Thanks again
