My CPU Intel i7-4790K is clocking 90 degree Celsius plus at below 10 percent load.

Cleaned Intel Stock CPU fan and heatsink. Re applied thermal paste.(Didn't completely remove old thermal paste that was there)

But no change in temp.Still showing 90 degree plus and sometimes climbing as high as 100 degree in idle.

Attaching some screenshots.

My system info : Intel i7 4790K with Stock Intel fan, NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB , Asus Formula 7 Motherboard , 16 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM , Samsung 120 GB EVO SSD , Windos 10 OS

Probably a combination of both thisisajaym. The Intel stock cooler IMO is basically crap and not meant for a (K) processor and especially if Overclocking. You would do better with a Hyper 212 Evo which would be better to keep an i7-4790K in check.

Also check your CPU core voltage when up and running.(lower the better whilst maintaining stability)
With a CPU Core voltage at 0.992V and MB temp at 40C and CPU core at idle at 88C tells me you have poor thermal interface at the heatsink. Either your cooler is ineffective or TIM is not applied correctly. If you did not remove the old TIM then I suggest this is your issue.

Reapply TIM and ensure the old TIM is removed. (Use Isopropyl Alcohol 99%)

I recommend AS5 or Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut applied as a small pea size blob in the center of the thermal plate. Take care when tightening the hold down brackets (Finger tight and screwed down corner to corner in steps)

I had this same over temp issue before that's why i re applied the thermal paste. The old one was over 3 years old.So do you think this problem will solely be related to thermal paste or the stock cooling fan issue?
