CPU Idle Temperature

Is it normal for a core i7-7700k’s idle temperature to be 37-40 degrees celsius?

Not really but it depends on what the temprature is where you live. It should normally idle at around 30 Degrees C...What CPU cooler are you using and is it hot where you live, case and fan locations would also be good to know..

I’m using the Corsair H100i v2, but have not set up the Corsair link software yet.

It's a bit warm (Kabylake does run warm) however what really matters is your load temps.

Okay, that is not an issue and the H100i is a fairly good AIO. Is the CPU overclocked? What is the RAm running at? is it in XMP mode?

No the cpu is not overclocked

Even though the idle temps are not that bad, you should be around the 30 degree mark at the worst...Running the XMP profile for overclocked memeory does increase the temps by a few degrees, so that might account for it if you are running fast memory..like 3200MHz...Still, if it was me, I would re-install the H100i just to make sure...

Under load make sure the CPU doesn't exceed 80C (at least not for long periods) and if it stays under then your fine.
