Please help me. I have two Asrock mobos, models G31M-VS and 945GCM-S. On the asrock website the processor intel core 2 quad Q9550 (E0), which is the one I have, is listed as supported. I have installed this cpu on both mobos and the 945GCM-S does not boot at all, the G31M-VS says that the cpu is not supported and shuts down. Is it possible that the manufacturer made a mistake and listed the wrong cpu on the cpu support list? Or is there a bios setting that I need to change? I have the latest bios version on both mobos. Below are the links to the cpu support list.

The power supply on both computers is generic and I have DDR2 PC-6400 ram memory installed. Both computers boot up correctly when I install a core 2 duo processor.

I'd say the BIOS versions as well, but if you are 100% sure you have the latest version, then you should be good there. I see the processor needs 95W to run. What is the model of the Core 2 duo? If it's less watts, that could be the reason. Maybe the generic PSU doesn't have enough juice for the new CPU, even if you think it does. Generic PSUs can cause all sorts of faulty power. Just a thought.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have tried with a Corsair PSU on both mobos and still no luck. I have noticed that the G31M-VS manual states that it can support processors up to 65W so that would rule out the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 which has a 95W TDP. However, I am still confused that the cpu support list shows a bunch of 95W processors. The 945GCM-S board does not seem to have the same 65W limit but I still cannot get it to boot. Any other ideas? Thanks again.

Just took a look at the 945gcm-s asrock mobo link and it states that quads aren't supported. I have the same CPU (q6600) and hoped to use this too. Did you get anywhere with this?

No, I gave up. I think these processors are not compatible with either motherboard.
