I have an fx 6300 on the stock cooler. I have had the processor for a couple of years and have never had an overheating problem. The CPU is idling at around 61C in the bios. I just cleaned the computer and it did not fix the problem. Airflow should not be a problem as the everything else is very cool. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I've had experience with the FX series and the stock cooler... 60C is actually a fine temperature for that CPU. Once you start getting into the 80s is when it isn't too healthy for the PC. A few things I figured out:

The bios, for some reason I can't remember (something like not being optimized for PCs), runs the CPU at like 90-100% usage, so high temperatures in Bios is actually normal.

The CPU after reaching 90-100C baked the thermal paste, and glued the CPU to the heatsink, causing more heating issues.

So, I'd suggest running a game or benchmark and monitoring the CPU temperature to see how hot it gets. If it reaches 80C, I'd suggest (1) getting better quality thermal paste ($5), and/or (2), get an aftermarket cooler...

Well the last time i checked this CPU it never idled above 40C. The cpu is also not being stressed. I will stress it and see it how hot it gets.
UPDATE: Well, I stressed it with CPU-Z and measured the Temps with MSI Afterburner. It never went above 66C. So its apparently not that bad. I don't know what caused it to be up in the 70's earlier. Thanks for the help
