CPU is going around 90 C when playing games

When I play games like CS:GO and Fortnite my CPU temperture goes up to 90 almost 100 C. I've had my pc for about two weeks now and I am using a i5 7500 with a stock cooler. Is it safe to have the temp be this high or can my pc break because of it

Return/exchange the PC. That full stop there was a period. There is a manufacturer's defect that you shouldn't have to fix. This could be a fan issue. The heatsink(aka CPU cooler) may not be seated correctly. That is not a safe temp. A stock cooler might cool to 30c but it may be in the 40s or MAYBE 50s if the ambient temp. is around 32c.at idle(PC not doing much of anything) It might climb into the low 70s with normal conditions during a gaming load.

That's not normal but your PC won't break but it will shut itself down when it reaches 100 or somewhere near there to prevent damaging itself.

Should returning or exchanging not be possible We would need the PC's make and model so that we could offer some aftermarket cooler options.

100 is thermal throttle and you should bewell below those temps anyway. I would start by taking off the cooler, cleaning all the thermal paste of (alcohol and coffee filters work great), reapply new thermal paste (between a rice and pea size) and re-seat the cooler.

To be honest Intel coolers are junk, however those temps are still very high. If you do want to put an after market cooler on something like the Coolermaster 212, Cryorig H7 or even the Coolermaster T2 (which is under 20 USD) are all better choices.

I'm going to try that later but when it's idle it hits around 50 C and when playing games it reaches 100 in some games it hits below 80
