[SOLVED] CPU is hitting really high temps when idle

I pirated some games a while ago, and everything went fine until now. My PC was overheating so I cleaned the vents really well and that fixed it for a while. Now, its hitting 200 degrees F when not running anything, or it acts completely normal. I don't know much about PCs, what should I do?

If I were in your shoes, I'd no longer trust the PC or the Windows install. It's time to nuke everything with an OS reinstall and get the games in a more honest fashion.

I mean, if someone's willing to screw over a company out of their money, what makes you think they're not going to screw over the person that uses their stuff?

Sounds like the CPU heatsink is loose. No need to re-install Windows.

I would also use a virus scanner to check the system, and see what HWInfo amd task manager reports for CPU usage. There might be something in the system that doesn't belong there.
