Question Cpu is overheating with aftermarket fan

I recently upgraded my gpu (RTx 2070) and my i7 7700k was running fine for the first week then all of a sudden I’m getting notification that some cores are approaching max temp. When checked it stated that cpu was around 100 degrees. I have an aftermarket fan and it was working just fine until recently. Now when gaming I get ten minutes out of it until I get the overheating notification. What could be the issue? I’m not overclocking and my case is sitting around 60-80 degrees when gaming. Do I need to change kind of cooler or something a bit more drastic?

the cpu fan still running?
full system spec? make and model of the psu?
redo the cooler, redo the thermal paste

Pc specs

Graphics card - Evga RTx 2070 XC black
Cpu - Intel i7 7700k
Power supply- Evga 750 gq 80+ 750w gold
Cpu fan - Coolermaster hyper 212x
Ram - 2x 8gb DDR4 (vengeance brand but unsure which specific one)
Motherboard - Asus strix Z270H

And yes the cpu fan is still running. I’ll get some high quality thermal paste and see if that helps
