So, my computer has been acting a little weird lately. My PC has been usually been running at a average temp of 40-50c while gaming and idling. But now I have a new HDD and for some reason my temps are now at a low of 60. Any reason for this?? Im abit scared as i don't really want to destroy my CPU or decrease its life a lot faster. Thanks for your consideration. I'll appreciate any answers!

Hm, honestly im not entirely sure as thermal paste shouldn't really go bad overtime. although replacing it doesn't hurt, maybe the cooler got a bit loose overtime? make sure its 100% tight but not too tight.

but since you already had good temps i don't see how changing the HDD effects the temps, are you sure you are fully idle?

I have a AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad Core Processor. Also my cooler is an aftermarket cooler, I am just not sure of its name as I received it as a gift. And Id like to add one more thing. When my temps are really high, my fans are running super fast. That dosen't make sense to me as if my fans were running so fast, why are my temps not cool? [When my fans get faster, the temps don't go down they go up.]

Did you apply any thermal paste when installing the cooler? how did you apply it? the only thing that can cause high temperatures after installing a new cooler is poor application of thermal paste 😛

I'm not sure as of I wasn't the one to apply the thermal paste, as I revived the computer cooler and mother board pre built. But yes there is thermal paste on the cpu, I'm sure of that. What do you think might have happened to my thermal paste? It has been on for about 6 months.

Ok, so I tightened up my cooler a little bit and that seemed to work! My temps are down lower now! I don't think they are problematic anymore. They are down into the 30's now when idle and 40-50c while gaming. Thanks for all of your answers! I really appreciate it!
