Question CPU is stuck in processor case

Yup, somehow my processor managed to get stuck in the processor cage, it's an i5 9600k and a z390 pro4. It happened when I lifted up the socket latch. Does anyone know how to get it out?

I'd say just carefully hit it until it comes out.

I've tried that but than I would have to press against the side of the thermal paste and I dont have any spare. I'm also very scared of it getting damaged since it's super stuck.

The only way I can imagine the CPU getting stuck in the retention latch would be if it slipped and the HSF wedged itself between the two bumps that clamp it down. In that case, check which direction it got stuck and gently wrench it the other way. Beware of not dropping the CPU in the socket. If you still have the motherboard's plastic socket protector, I recommend putting it back in.
