CPU is way too loud when playing certain games

Let me start off by saying 3 days ago I built this computer so this is a completely brand new build, the specs are:

Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3
GPU: MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB
CPU: AMD FX-8350

As you can see the specs are pretty good, so should easily be able to handle a game like WoW, but everytime I run it, the CPU makes such a loud noise, its like a plane trying to take off ! I tried running another game: Skyrim on ultra high settings and the CPU made less noise, but still a rather uncomfortable amount.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I use Core Temp to monitor the temperature, and it only ever hit a maximum of 47 degrees when playing WoW and 52 when playing Skyrim, which rules out any overheating issues, I opened the case at first to find out what was making the noise, then closed it back up. Yeah i am using a stock cooler.

I think the quietest CPU coolers out there are made by Noctua. They have a bunch of CPU coolers, and their fans are not only QUIET, they are also top of the line, and come with 6 year warranties. And they cost more than the noisy cheap fans. but while being quiet, they push lots of air.

The have monsters like this one:

and everything downward from that. I highly recommend their fans and coolers. Just find the model of CPU cooler you prefer, and grab one. You will never go back to cheap fans again.

Yeah I am definitely looking to get a new CPU cooler, but what makes me not think its just the stock fan is that the noise isn't a steady controlled one, it goes up in pitch and severity and then lowers again and then goes back up, repeating that pattern.

The standard AMD 125w solid copper base / copper heatpipe cooler is fine.

You should check your manual (likely in the BIOS section) regarding the CPU 'Smart Fan' profile (not sure what Asus calls theirs).

It sounds as if you have some type of "Turbo Fan" enabled that drives the cooler fan to 100% RPMs. You may likely be able to set a manual fan profile with a gentle curve on the RPMs -- not 'wide-open' as it seems to be happening.

Its not fine, its absolute crap. The stupid little fan on it is so loud when you actually have some load on the cpu.

Well there's nothing in the manual that specifies fan control apart from the Cool 'n' quiet option which i firstly looked at in the bios as soon as i encountered this problem and it was already enabled.

You missed this ...

edit: Replaced craptastic screen cap

Both intel's and AMD's stock coolers are obnoxiously loud when they get warmed up and going.

Pretty much any 140mm fan cooler is going to be substantially more quiet than the stock coolers. Hyper 212's aren't as good as noctua, but at 30 bucks, are a fine choice and quiet enough.

I've looked at that CPU Q-Fan function in the BIOS and its already enabled and says it already automatically adjusts the fan speeds according to the temperature readings, but I am very certain that the fan speeds that are set whilst in a game definitely do not represent the temperatures, I've looked at the temperature readings whilst in-game and they are way too low for a fan speed that sounds like its giving 100% of its capacity.

I have the same CPU, its just the stock heatsink, its loud, but its fine, nothing is wrong with your system, Mine does it when I play Banished. If it is an issue, get a hyper 212, problem solved and you can overclock a bit
