Hello,

I was pulling my cpu heatsink/fan off yesterday, but it pulled the cpu out of the socket with it. So i checked for any bent pins, there wasnt any, so blew out heatsink, put it all back to gether now i have the red led for cpu, computer fans, and psu all start but no graphics or any beeps.

Sabertooth 990fx
Amd 8350 cpu using the fan/heatsink it came with.

I tried benching the mobo, placing 1 stick of ram in each spot, nothing has chaged with any of that..
So here i am stuck researching 50+ forums but everyone ends the forum after they figure it out so i dont know what eventually fixed the problem. Im thinking somehow the cpu went kaput after it was ripped from the socket, any ideas?

Here is a link to the most comprehensive but clear troubleshooting guide for post failure on a PC -

If you are no further forward then it's a case of replacing the CPU/motherboard/power supply depending on which you feel is faulty.
A process of elimination infortunately.
It certainly seems to be the CPU that is dead bit could also be the motherboard that is damaged.
A failing power supply is a possibility but less likely as your PC posted prior to the accidental removal of the CPU.
Does your mobo have a little lever to lock the CPU into place?
They usually do.
If the CPU was just pulled out by sticking to the heatsink it sounds like it wasn't fastened too securely as that little lever locks them in.

Try a CMOS reset either by shorting the clear CMOS jumper or removing the motherboard battery for a couple of minutes with the power off

Hardware changes can sometimes require a mobo reset but also removing and reseating components like the CPU, RAM etc can sometimes cause a mobo to need resetting.
Each model is different and some are more sensitive to changes.

Use a very strong magnifying glass or magnifying reading glasses with the torch on your phone to really scrutinize the CPU's pins.
Turn it around in your hand and look down each row of pins carefully from various angles as a bent pin can be very elusive in the tiny rows of pins.
Do the same with the CPU socket to check there is no damage.

I had the battery out for 30 minutes, i very carefully inspected pins on the cpu and the board were it snaps in, everything is straight. Theres nothing inside the socket that looks unusual. Same thing just the red cpu light stays on and no boot, beep, or video.

Does your mobo have a little speaker?
If so try booting without a GPU and RAM installed.

A PC will boot without these two but beep error codes whereas it will not boot with a dead or faulty CPU.
We need it to beep these error codes.
It's to narrow it down to the CPU being faulty as sometimes it appears to be the culprit but if for example the power supply was failing and didn't have enough juice to power all components you can tell by the beep codes.
if you find out the error beep codes for your mobo are then you can start to find out what is wrong.

I know it certainly seems to be the CPU but it's a case of eliminating everything else before pursuing that avenue.
