[SOLVED] CPU light flashs red after boot

So ive tried to upgrade my pc with a new cpu (i5 9600k) to replace my old i5 7400 and whenever i try to boot the fans spin up for a moment and the red cpu light turns on for a second then the pc turns off.

I've tried reseating the CPU, and taking out the cmos battery for about 5minutes to no effect. I'm not sure where to go now and I'm really hoping its not the CPU being dead. Any help is greatly appreciated.

My MOBO is a msi h110m pro-vd
