CPU limits on motherboard?

I have an older slot 1 motherboard that I wanted to upgrade with a Pentium III CPU. I installed the CPU but it still reads Pentium II. I looked closely at the motherboard and it has printed on it PentiumII. Does this mean that a Pentium III won't work in this motherboard? The motherboard itself has Micronics printed on it but I can't see any type of I.D. number. Any information regarding this question would be most appreciated. B.B.

If it works, it works. The fact that BIOS reports it as a PII has no consequence, I have an Abit LX6 motherboard that reports Celerons as a PII but still works.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
