Hello everyone,

I've always found great help on the forum and today I'm hoping that you guys can guide me once more.

I want to upgrade my CPU, motherboard and RAM to pair with my recently purchased RTX 2060 Super, but I'm not sure how to optimize my spending as I'm not looking to spend a fortune, I would like something mid-range ish, perhaps à Ryzen 5 3600? Should I go with a B450 platform or maybe X570?

My current setup is as follow :

CPU : Intel i7 4770K
Motherboard : Asus Sabertooth Z97 Mark 2
GPU : RTX 2060 Super
RAM : Corsair Vengeance Black, 2X8GB DDR3-1600
CPU Cooler : CM Hyper 212 Evo
PSU : Corsair RM750X

The setup is mostly for RPG gaming on 1440p, 144hz.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, Ryzen 3600 + a good B450 MB like https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX/Overview + 2x8GB RAM, 3200MHz would be a perfect match for that (and even better) GPU.

Solution
The B450 (with updated BIOS to support RYzen 3000 series CPUs) and the RYzen 3600 or 3700 are both quite a compelling amount of performance for the money. (I see no real advantages yet to X570 boards beyond the flashy 5000 MB/sec attained on CrystalDIskMark sequential reads with a PCI-e 4.0 drive, but, even then games and OS each still take about the same time to load, etc...

B450 Mobo's bios needs to be updated to support the Ryze 3000 series? I wasn't aware of this, I thought it was plug and play, is it something complicated to accomplish?

I appreciate the answer, this is what I will be going for

The Tomahawk Max recommended above by CountMike only comes with a compatible BIOS. The non Max version may or may not come with a compatible BIOS.
Ok that's very good to know, that was the Mobo I was leaning toward to, I would like to avoid updates if possible so I'll stick to this one
