CPU not detected or fail

Hi

Using ryzen 5 1600 and have got a CPU not detected or fail led on.

Any one know what I can do ?

MSI B350M Motherboard

The debug led for no CPU detection or fail is constantly on.

Have tried powering off and taking CPU out and putting all back in and still nothing.

Tried 1 stick of RAM, all connections seated, ect? Try onboard video with GPU removed? Using bare minimum hardware can narrow down. I'm assuming all hardware is new. However, a quick search sounds like it could be the UEFI needs updated to support the Ryzen 5. The old versions only support Ryzen 7. The problem is your board needs a Ryzen 7 to update the UEFI to support the Ryzen 5 if this is the case. Some boards can do this without a CPU installed, but yours isn't one of them.

Okay so build my first pic today and have a problem.

I turn on the PC and the motherboard is saying CPU not detected or fail. I have tired taking out the CPU and putting back in but still same problem. Have tried unplugging everything and starting again but no luck. I have ordered a new CPU and will arrive tomorrow but wanting to know if anyone else has any issues or know how to solve it. Also read somewhere that the motherboard may not compatible with the CPU?

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (Standard Cooler)
GPU: Asus GTX 1070 8GB
MB: MSI B350M Gaming Pro
RAM: 2 X 8GB BLADES DDR4 AMD FINE
HD: 1TB
PSU: 550W Gold EVGA G2

Have you connected the 8 pin CPU power cable to the motherboard?

Yes I have although it does look odd but it definitely in.

It's the 4+4 version.

Let's see if the new CPU will solve the issue.

If it doesn't, do you think it may be the motherboard?

Yes, it could be the board. Try testing it outside the case, when getting the CPU.
