[SOLVED] CPU not detected or fail

So I just picked up an msi mpg z490 and an Intel i7 10700 and it’s giving me the error for CPU not detected or fail. I have reseated the processor and and reset the cmos. I pulled the ram and tested it and it still fails. I have tried turning it on without the cpu installed and the case fan didn’t spin up at all. The fans on the aio did start up when they and the cpu were installed.

I’m not sure what’s going wrong with it and could use some help.

The next step is to accept the error message as a "CPU" problem.

Could be CPU or motherboard.

If possible try the CPU in another known working motherboard.

Or try another known working CPU in your motherboard.

Determine if the problem follows the CPU or stays with the motherboard.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS.

Do you have the User Guide/Manual for the motherboard?

I found the following link - verify that it does match your motherboard:

https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/E7C79v1.0.pdf

Doublecheck your build via the User Guide along with the documentation for all other installed components.

Hopefully there is just a physical misconnection versus some basic incompatible/unsupported component.

Take your time, read carefully and pay attention to all notes and fine print. Very likely that you will be referred back to MSI's website for more up-to-date information and the QVL (Qualified Vendors List).

mb: MSI MPG z490 gaming edge wifi
CPU: Intel i7 1070
AIO: Corsair h115 rgb pro
Ram: GSkill ripjaw 3200
PSU: Thermaltake toughpower grand rgb 750
is all that was installed when I was testing. I do have the manual and double checked it.

That is the unfortunate decision I came to. I’ve ordered a new motherboard and cpu and will test them out and return the ones that are broke. Thanks for the reply.
