cpu not reading correct

Hey,
I installed a 'pentium 3 550Mhz' socket type chip after removing a 'pentium 2' slot type chip into a motherboard which has a slot 1 and a socket 370.When I went in to properties in my computer, it read the pentium 2 processor but it was reading the pentium 3 in POST. After reinstalling windows 98 the same problem occured.I also increased the speed in the BIOS according to the processor speed.Also in the 'hardware monitor' in the BIOS it is reading the pentium 2 and 3 chips temperatures even though the pentium 2 is removed.
Can someone tell my how to solve this problem?

open the computer up and remove the battery that is inside you should also have a clear cmos jumper setting make sure the power lead is out, clear the cmos then replace the jumpers to the correct postion.

replace the battery that has now cleared the whole board and has reset it to manufactures standard,

it may have been a case of the bios miss reading the information.

Are you sure there's no jumpers that need to be switched around when changing from slot to socket, that perhaps you did not notice?
